The Lost Decade (and a Half)

I wrote all of Texas AFT’s 2024 report, The Lost Decade (and a Half), and performed all of its analysis. I also created the responsive HTML tables for the website, which connected readers to their districts’ results.

The report followed educator pay over time and adjusted it for inflation. It found that average Texas teacher pay had lost more than 9% of its purchasing power between the 2009–2010 and 2023–2024 school years. The district analyses showed how much that experience varied across the state.

I built the salary datasets, district analyses, spreadsheets, and web tables so readers could check the local figures behind the statewide findings. The related Respect Campaign Map gave educators and organizers another way to find district research.
