Enter a dollar amount and choose two periods to see how its purchasing power changes after inflation. I built the calculator as a static page with Vue, Papa Parse, and Chart.js; the chart shows the CPI values used in the calculation.

The source repository includes the page and a CSV from the Texas Comptroller’s Key Economic Indicators dataset. Results use that saved data release, so the available periods depend on when the CSV was last updated. The app needs no server or build step.

What would that amount buy?

Choose two months to compare an amount using the Texas CPI series in the original calculator’s archived dataset.

$1,000.00 in 2010-01 ≈ $1,409.24 in 2023-05

Calculation: amount × destination CPI ÷ starting CPI. CPI measures average price changes; it does not describe every household’s costs. The exhibit uses the original dated snapshot and is not a current inflation forecast.
